Do participants need to know Shakespeare beforehand?
No. We presume many participants left high school after a few boring weeks with Julius Caesar, and have had little Shakespeare since. Yet many feel they should learn some Shakespeare. They want to tap into his wisdom, if only someone could make it accessible. That's what we do - and more, since we also make Shakespeare fun, educational, and applicable to better their professional and personal lives.
Do participants need much preparation before the leadership training seminar?
From none to some.
There can be no preparation, as we've done for half-day seminars with corporations and Wharton executive MBA students, who have no time to prepare. For some day-long seminars, participants can: a) listen to an audio CD prepared by Movers & Shakespeares, which they pop into their car radio, and b) watch the video of a hit film version of the Shakespearean play, at home before the seminar.
Is there a lot of preparation and rehearsal time for the skit after the seminar?
No. We work around other conference events. We need less than one-half hour to assign parts to the 6-8 "players," explain the meaning of their mini-scene, fit their costumes, and then stage the grand finale as a group. Again, the time taken is worked around other activities. Most of our "players" enjoy rehearsing so they'll look their best!
Must players memorize their lines?
No. Each holds a clearly-marked script, which he or she reads. We work with the players gestures and blocking to make them look great!
Must players wear tights?
No, but many love to. We have many styles of costumes from fun to elegant. All players are volunteers and wear only what they feel comfortable in.
Surprisingly, we have more volunteers than parts for the grand performance. We've found that executives love to get into costume and perform before their colleagues - especially if it's Shakespeare that they can understand (perhaps for the first time!).
What are the audio-visual (a/v) needs?
That depends upon the room and audience size. We've done training seminars for 20 to 50 people on top of Ajax Mountain in Aspen, Colorado and in a Scandinavian Urt on top of Canyons Mountain in Park City, Utah -- with no A/V needs. Before 1,300 software designers in North Carolina, however, we used hand-held mikes, a raised stage, audio system for our Renaissance music, and a big screen for projection to the back of the audience. Logistics vary depending on audience size. AV and room set-up are easily handled with the hotel or other contact staff. Movers and Shakespeares assures that all performances run smoothly and professionally.
Is Movers and Shakespeares expensive?
Our fees fall within the norm for high quality, unique training and entertainment. As our rave reviews from repeat-business clients and leading publications show, we create a memorable educational and entertainment event - "edu-tainment" at its best, according to Sam Donaldson. So let's talk about how Movers and Shakespeares can bring value to your next event, and make it the most memorable executive training or conference in memory.
